Ottawa Senators goalie Cam Talbot returns from injury

The Ottawa Senators' Cam Talbot will return to the crease on Friday after a 9-game injury absence.

Talbot has been out since January 25 due to a lower-body injury.

What happened to Talbot?

The 35-year-old goalie was hurt in Ottawa's victory over the New York Islanders.

He has a 12-13-1 record with a .905 save percentage over 28 contests this season.

How did the team perform in his absence?

The Sens went 6-2-1 without Talbot, with Anton Forsberg, Mads Sogaard, and Kevin Mandolese filling in.

Forsberg went 3-1-0 before sustaining significant injuries of his own, including MCL tears in both knees.

What's next for the Senators?

The team is currently 6th in the Eastern Conference with a 44-27 record, on a W1 streak.

Talbot's return will be a boost to the team as they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

The Senators acquired Talbot in a trade with the Minnesota Wild in July.

And with Talbot back in the crease, the team will look to build on their recent success.

But the Senators will also be without Forsberg, who is ruled out for two-to-three months.

So the team will rely on Sogaard and Mandolese to support Talbot in goal.

The 22-year-old Sogaard went 2-0-1 with a .913 save percentage in four games.

Mandolese also performed well, stopping 75 of 80 shots for a .938 save percentage.
